Athletics at Providence
PHS supports 23 varsity & junior varsity sports for men & women. The school has been awarded the North Carolina Wachovia Cup four times for best overall athletic program in North Carolina. Providence has numerous State Athletic Championship Teams, including Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving, Men’s Soccer, Women’s Cross Country, Men’s Lacrosse, & Women’s Volleyball, in addition to countless individual State Champions including the 2013 Men's Cross Country State Champion.
The athletic grounds are comprised of a gym, swimming pool, football stadium, baseball stadium, softball field, practice fields, and tennis courts.
Navy Junior ROTC
Providence High School NJROTC Program emphasizes character education, student achievement, leadership, citizenship, service to the community, and diversity. It also instills in its students the values of personal responsibility, self-discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, responsiveness to constituted authority, and patriotism. Our JROTC was named #3 out of 20 for the CMS Superintendent’s Cup, our drill team was the National Grand Champion Runner Up, and received the U.S. Navy Distinguished Unit Award with Academic Honors.
